Video Game Invasion
This video is about the history of video games industry and the cool graphics and cutting edge technology. This video about people who invented that videogames and console. It is also a story about a group of unique individuals who started with nothing ,but ideas. Guys who came out of their garages and ended up as power players with multi billion industry. They revolutionized entertainment and tun themselves into rockstars. I’m too lazy to write type out the names of these inventers and the game consoles and the games they invented. I think the first game console was atari. It shows companies trying to out do each other. It is not just about games it also about vision and obsession. It is about a whole generation grabbing the joystick and got hooked on video games. It is about games that have been blamed for kids being anti-social and violent. I’m too lazy watch the full videos. If somebody want to know more about this video they can watch it. I’ll will write a little bit of what I remember when I play these games and game consoles . I’m not sure what I thought about the video. I wasn’t much into video games when I was young. The reason why is my parents couldn’t afford to buy us these kinds of games. I remember going to a friends house and playing the ping-pong game and I thought it was boring. I think I would’ve ask my parents to buy a console if I liked it, but I remember I didn’t ask for it. I think in the beginning of the 1980’s the is when I started playing the video games. We had a sega game console and I used to play sonic. I wasn’t really good at it. Then in the 1990’s we had nintendo and nintendo64 that’s when started to like playing the video games. I liked playing supermario and tetris these were my favorite games.

Media and Public Voice
I think it was two years ago that we had a teacher that taught media literacy as a subject. She started a website for our school. Her class helped her start it up. She said that it was really difficult, because she have right resources to help with the class. Some of she needed was taken out from the computers. She only used powerpoint and publisher to use her class. I don’t know if the website is still there. This was only time media literacy was ever taught at our school. Here in my community we have a few guys that are using the media and the public voice. They are using the website YOUTUBE to upload the videos they made. These guys are out school and some of them didn’t graduate from high school. They are in their late teens. These guys taught themselves how to use the computer and how to upload their videos. They have a few videos on youtube. This shows that teenagers can do anything with the computer even though nobody helped them and they taught themselves how to podcast on the internet. Learning to use blogs, wikis, digital storytelling, podcasting, and video making is media of self-expression within a context of “public voice” should be introduced and evaluated in school curriculm, after school programs, and informal learning communties. If youth today are to become effective citizens in the emerging era of the public network of the computer. I think the Cree School Board should take a good look at media literacy education. This is our future generation is going. They could do a survey done on it and they could ask the students what they think about it. This could really help them in their learning. Media has really changed and it is impacting everyday aspect and experiences of our lives. Cree School Board should look at the needs and to take the responsibility for helping the students. They can master the skills and knowledge that they need to function in a hypermediated environment.

Social Network Sites
My students are not of age to participate on the social networks. They are still very young to use those sites. The age group is between five to six years old. They probably don’t know how to use the online communities. At our school the elementary and the secondary share the computer lab. There’s not enough room in the schedule for my students. I can’t take my students to the computer lab. And plus the Cree School Board has blocked all of these sites. The students at our school can’t use these sites. The only place that I see teenagers using these site is at home. I have five teenagers at home and they are always on the computers at home. they take turns and sometimes I can’t use the computer myself. It is a good thing my kids are patient or it would be hell inside my home. The main site that they are always on is Bebo, MSN Messenger, and Windows Messengers. One of daughter likes to chat and talk on the phone at the same time. If the cellphones worked in our community I think she would text message her friends while she was doing the other things. My five kids all have bebo accounts. They have over two hundred friends in their bebos and they also so included me as their friend on bebo. This a great way to communicate with each other. Like if they are too shy to say something to somebody. They can say on bebo and they can use pictures with it. This the place where my daughters say things to me ,when they are to shy to say it me. My daughters think they are too old for hugs and kisses. My sons still show some emotions to me. They learn a few things from the bebo site. It helps them with their reading and writing. They can change and they can make their own bebo skins. This kind of activity teaches them about art and math. They do some searches on the google network. This helps them do the research on the sites and there a few thing that they didn’t know about. This keeps them busy for a few hours, but it doesn’t interrupt their daily chores. I think the Cree School Board should put back the thing that were on the computers. The students will learn many things with the different sites on the web.

The power of media
I think It is very powerful thing. Since the invention of the radio, television, telephone, and the computer. It has made a very big impact in our lives. Today in our communities we have almost have everything that is used for media. W e have the regional radio that broadcasts from Mistissini. I think everybody has a television in their houses. I think computers are almost in every household in the cree communties. It was two or three years ago when some of the cree communities had cellphones. The only community that don’t have cellphones are Whapmagstui and Eastmain. Some people in my community have cellphones, but they can’t used them until they go down south or visit the other cree communities. The computer is the main thing at our house. I have five teenagers and they take turns at the computer . Sometimes I think the computer is on for twenty-four hours, I don’t think it is ever off. There are two main forms of communication in my house that is the computer and the telephone. I’ll give two example of my two teenagers. My nineteen year old daughter is always on the phone talking to her friend and sometimes she chats on the computer with at same time. She does this from the time she gets up, until she goes to bed. If we had the cellphone working here in our town. I think she would use the cellphone to text message her friend. My media freak is my fourteen year old son. He’s into everything that has to do with new technology. If you showed him a brand new form technology. He will know how to start it or how it works from just looking at it. He plays with guitar hero and plays with computer at the same time. I think these days children are advanced with new technology, they learn so fast.

Seasons
My favorite season is winter. You can do lots things during the wintertime. You can go snowshoeing and ski-doo riding. I have two sons and one grandson. I can watch my sons and grandson play hockey. I like to watch them play ,I feel proud. Hockey is my favorite sports even though I don’t play the game.
